The loggers used to cut trees from the land situated near river or sea. When all the trees had cut, they simply move to another such a place. Moving the logs through the water was something easy but the loggers began to face problems when they went further inland. Generally, the oxen and the horses used to pull logs through the skid track or rough road. It was more convenient for the log drivers to drive logs to their desired places when the log workers used to work near a stream. Lumber made special railway was another method of transport. The logs were sorted according to their use when the log cam to the main waterway with the aid of different transportation system. After then they sent the logs to mills.

It is an interesting fact that, loggers used their own vocabulary and it was mandatory being a male for this job. The word faller used for the men who chopped the tree while bucker used for the men who processed the trees. Finally, the men who carry those processed logs to the uploading area called whistle punk. Before the invention of steam engine and gas engine loggers used axes, hand saws and animals for their work.

In 19th and 20thcentury the loggers liked to live around their working area. At that time the loggers lived in a nasty condition and were bound to work for a long duration of life. Again, lice and different diseases causing pathogens disturbed them always and it was a common matter that they passed several days with the same cloth.
