A place of work is considered the second home because of the time that is spent on here is the same as the time spent at home. Furthermore, people in the work place can also be considered family once gotten close to as friends. At work, we also spend so much time with colleagues that we begin to build a relationship with them thus making us feel that we are family. What many people do not know is that having families at work is indeed helpful and does provide a lot of benefits. Having said these, one should always make sure to earn friends in the office or workplace.

If you're looking to finish a project at work on time and are simply too tired to do it then you can rely on your office friends to help you out. Having friends at your office will also help relieve emotional as well as physical stress - friends are good listeners and office friends are the same. With friends, you can also have someone check your performance thus they can also help you move up the ladder in your office. Now having friends at work provides much more benefits than the very few cons. This leaves us to the question â€" Do you want to make friends at work? If yes, then that's good. If no, then simply read the tips below.

Leave a good impression

Just like any tactic to making friends, meeting an important person or during job interviews, you will need to make a good first impression. A first impression is simply a good opportunity to make people remember you. To leave a good impression however doesn't mean you have to show off. To leave a good first impression you need to make sure you're not doing something foolish or something that could ruin your reputation - you can try something funny, awkward or smart, just as long as it can gain positive results.

Give your name or nickname for them to remember you

As soon as you get to the introduction part, be sure to give your real name. By simply giving your name or nickname when introduced you can already have a good starting point in getting friends at work. Nicknames can also be a good option when your name is too long to memorize or may have a funny ring to it. Try to keep it short and if possible catchy or easy to remember.

Dine or lunch out with colleagues

One thing that you should also remember with regard to earning friends in the office is to say yes to eat out invites if possible. Among those few moments at work when you can socialize is during lunch breaks as well as coffee breaks. Therefore, try as much as possible to bond with your colleagues when they invite you to go with them for lunch. With this, you can show your desire to get to know other people as well as show that you are friendly and approachable.

Try to share your thoughts to your colleagues

Being friends is also about sharing your thoughts and opinions. Therefore, if you want people to like you or be friends with you, you will need to be open to them and let them think what’s on your mind. If you have the right conversation, tell them of what you like or dislike, hobbies, past experiences at work and others.
