This is already a common sense for those who are involved in the investigation world, especially to a private investigator Vancouver BC. To have a successful surveillance, here are vital tips that one should remember.

First, gather information upfront. This means that, before you accept a case from your client, you have to ask as much information as you can first. Do not simply settle on the client telling you about the subject's name, profession, age, or address.

The vehicle you will be needing for this surveillance should be picked carefully. You need a surveillance car that will allow you to blend naturally with the environment that you are in. It should not be out of place. The vehicle should not stand out easily. If you have to rent a high class car to blend in a high class residential area, then do so.

You need to do your pre-surveillance check. This is the kind of check that you have to do before you actually start your surveillance work. When you do the pre-surveillance check, you can determine whether the information you got from the client is the right one or not. You can also decide how to stake out with this.

Speaking of stake out, you have to plan properly how you will set it up. You need to find a good position where you should be able to observe your subject at a safe distance, without arousing the suspicions of the subject or the people around the subject. You have to make yourself, along with your car, less noticeable.

Call of nature is a given. However, answering it with the mindset that this is the time for you to take a break from surveillance is just so wrong. You might miss out on some important details because of that. If you cannot really bear it, then you should make sure to prepare a portable toilet you can use for that.

Your observation skills will be your main weapon when you are doing a surveillance. You will definitely fall behind the other investigators if you have a poor observation skills. When you are observing during a surveillance, pay close attention to the subject, the surrounding, and the people the subject comes in contact with.

The camera is a helpful tool for you too. You will use this to capture the images or actions that the subject will do. This is an important proof that the client will require of you. The shots you take should be steady too. To make shots steady, you simply have to use the right software for it. You can also use a monopod or tripod.

Sometimes, you will need to follow the subject's car. In this case, you should learn the best distance you can take to avoid getting caught. It will all depend on your skills as a driver as well as the traffic. To avoid losing the subject's car in the traffic, you should remember some unique characteristics of the car too.
