Choosing The Best Concrete Sealer Sprayers

The best protection for all concrete surfaces is applying some good quality sealer. It will protect them and make them more attractive. Your chosen way for application of the sealer depends, and different types provide different results. The fact is that concrete sealer sprayers are definitely the best choice for this work, but not every type is appropriate for every job.

It all depends on your chosen sealer. It can be solvent based or water based, it can contain different types of resins, and the percentage of solids can also vary. All this should affect your choice of appropriate equipment for your job. Not every sprayer is suitable for any type of resin or any type of solvent. Different solvents will also affect the evaporation time.

There are basically two types of sprayers, so called low-pressure, high-volume, airless ones and those called pump-up. The first ones can be used for applying any type of sealer, and their characteristic is really highly controlled application rate. They can be used for covering large surfaces in less time, can be used with all types of resins, at any solid content and both with water and solvent based sealers.

Pump-up sprayer works best with lower solid contents, basically lower than 35 percent. It is designed for solvent based sealers, and it is quite important to maintain it regularly. This means you should clean the nozzle after every application. It might not be so highly efficient as the first one, but it is much cheaper and provides very good results.

Different other applicators, such as mops or rollers, can also be quite useful in some cases. They are cheap, but good for some types of sealants. The problem is that they cannot reach all areas, and concrete surfaces rarely are perfectly smooth. That's why there might be spots and discoloration you would probably want to avoid. Sprayers are certainly much better solution.

High solid content sealers can be successfully applied using metal t-bar applicators. Of course, the surface should be smooth. If you want to get even better results, you can always apply a thin layer of sealer using sprayer, to achieve a perfect finish. Whatever technique you use, make sure to read the instructions first and to choose the appropriate equipment, recommended by manufacturers.

When it comes to sealer application, the general rule is that several thinner layers provide better results than one layer of the same quantity. This requires more work, but the results have much higher quality and durability. Read manufacturer's instructions first, choose the appropriate equipment and take a good care of your personal safety as well.

Solvents might be quite aggressive to your skin, and that's why you need to protect both your skin and your clothes. This is another reason for keeping your equipment clean and in a perfect condition, especially when it comes to sprayers. In case you use this type of equipment for inadequate types of sealers, the nozzle might clog and burst.
