Sizes of cable drums are not all the same. The cable drum or reel is the circular object like the spool which contains different varieties of electric wires. The drum is used in the industry for the transport of almost all wirings. Reels are usually made of hardwood, plywood, steel, and hard plastic.

These heavy cylinders should be handled carefully. Frames must prop up the drums which should be stable while being transported. If not, the drums may roll down and cause damages to the drums or injuries to people.

The Drum Lift Frame model is ideal for drums with a span of 1, 600 meters. Companies must be able to recognize and mark drums appropriately. Cable drums must have hard-wearing frames which can be lifted by forklift equipment. Said structures will ensure that the containers remain upright all the time. At the same time, drums must be on even terrain to avoid any unwarranted movement. Refrain from stacking drums on wet areas to prevent wear and tear.

Likewise, there must be guidelines in handling and moving these cylinders. Drums should be loaded on solid frames and wrapped with protective covering while in storage. Cable drums should always be upright and rest on level ground. Avoid storing these spools on wet areas or place the frames near open fire. The drums can explode or get damaged as a result.

Look for a smooth and dry surface like concrete for storage. This prevents the possible sinking of cable drum and frame due to its intense weight.

Cable drums can be rolled going down by putting a piece of flat and heavy wood ahead of the ramp. It is also possible to secure the drum with powerful ropes. There must be adequate space for air flow in the storage location. Drums should also be rolled at a 90 degree angle. Inspect and tighten the bolts on a regular basis. Do not use crowbars or greased plates to turn around the cable drums.
