Alabama has updated a large database of public data including that of the police records Alabama. This records repository has been around for many years already and is still in operation up to these days. These are the pieces of information on the police reports done by the authorities across the State. However, take note that this type of report does not mean that a person being suspected of the crime was convicted and was sentenced therefore to imprisonment. He or she could have been released immediately without solid evidences which would have led to the person's indictment.

There are different law enforcement divisions being formed in Alabama. But the State's Department of Public Safety is the head of all the operating enforcers within the State. Such department coordinates with the local police headquarters to make sure that all the standard operation procedures are carried out accordingly. The police records technically contain the name of the alleged offender, infraction done, date and time when it happened and the name of the arresting officer. That's all the details you can have from a police record. It is simply where the legal due process starts.

Once the police see a probable cause to file a case against someone, then it shall be carried out by bringing the case to the court for hearing. The police records then become active and can be viewed whenever urgently needed for court proceedings. If there is no legal basis for a complaint, then the police record of an individual will be removed from the police' records database. The active police documents are more often leveraged for background checking purposes. It does not hold a lot of information but it would certainly say something about the attitude or personality of the suspect.

In Alabama you are only allowed to do a fingerprint-based search so you got to have it taken at your local law enforcement unit for $25, payable through a certified check or money order to the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center. Then you must secure a copy of the official records application form, fill it out completely and submit with the corresponding amount as an admin fee. The whole process should be simple to go through; you only have to follow every step of the way. Normally, the turn-around time would take 5 to 10 working days before you get the results of your request.

With the changes that had to be done to make the release of such documents even faster, officials did give the local authorities to allocate the police records data to anybody who deserves a copy of it. But, requestors must abide to certain rules and guidelines before they get to procure a copy of the police documents. Aside from doing it manually, they have also activated online databases by creating websites where people can just navigate and look for the public data which they need. Doing this computer-based search means a lot to the residents in Alabama, for it means great convenience on their part in many aspects.

However, there is more that people can avail from aside from the records services being offered by the government offices. Today, anybody can obtain a copy of the local police records via the Internet by finding a reliable website which caters the same services being offered by the local law enforcement units.
