The residents of Ohio request for a copy of an arrest record to conduct a background check. They use it as reference when they feel that their security is at risk. Residents would look into the criminal history of their neighbors, caretakers, tutors, nannies, relatives and friends that they see regularly. Doing this helps them feel safe and secured around the people mentioned. Business owners are also one of the people that check the arrest records of individual. They do this to make sure that they only hire qualified people they can trust. This helps them to prevent damages caused by the person with a criminal history. Local authorities also use this document when they are conducting criminal case investigations.

Unfortunately, access to the arrest record becomes a threat to the individual who has a previous criminal record. Many have claimed that they have experience discrimination because of their history. Others feel unequally treated at work. They find it difficult to land a good position in a company and they are the least priority for promotion. This can be avoided by sealing away the record from public access. Unfortunately, not all can afford it because it is costly and the processing can take a while.

The said office is responsible for keeping the criminal records of the state, including the arrest record. The county clerk of courts is also another place that one can check in order to get a copy of the said file. Fees are not the same per county. A request form has to be submitted to proceed with the search. It has to include the basic details of the arrest and the contact details of the one who filed the request. A mail request can be sent to the state office and it usually take days before the result of the search can be obtained.

With the development of the Internet, arrest search can now be done online. One can obtain the Ohio arrest records in a breeze. The need to go anywhere just to file the request is no longer necessary since it can be done even without leaving your own home.
