Political campaigns are done with the aim of trying to persuade the voters to vote for particular leaders. With ages, different approaches have been integrated into it. However, with changes in democracy, increased number of potential voters and increased competition, there has been a need of diversifying these campaigns. Among the changes that have come into this exercise is the use of political campaign signs.

The reason as to why it becomes necessary to use these symbols so as to communicate silently without necessarily having to talk. The specific means to be used depends majorly on the desired effect on the audience. Among the many signs, there is the use of banners, posters, and even body language.

The information contained on these signs may be general information for any person regardless of whom they support. Others have coded information for particular individuals. The information can be in any form either abbreviations, words or even pictures as long as it is understood by the targeted audience.

Most of the time, party slogans are demonstrated in the form of actions that all the members understand. An example of such signs is the victory sign shown by raising the index and middle fingers together. Another one is whereby the index finger is raised as an indication of unity among party members and its supporters.

There has been an increased use of banners in campaigns too. Though cost wise they are very expensive, they normally deliver the intended purposes effectively. By the use of banners, the campaigner can give information to many voters using a single of it. It normally relies on the ability of the people to see, read and encode what is being communicated by the banner.

Campaign signs have become a standard and essential thing in campaigning. Not having them will make ones fight a hard task especially in reaching the voters. However, a win in any election is determined by some different factors apart from only having them. They are there to make the people understand the contestant better and also the ambitions of candidates.

In addition to this, some such as posters and banners have done it easy for media houses to give a helping hand to the campaign of these prospective leaders. Without them, it would mean that the politician would have to be literally on that media house in person to communicate their ideologies which are practically not possible since the media houses are many.

The economy of the country also benefits from campaign signs. Companies have been established to undertake their production. Many people find themselves employed there. There are those who are blessed with the talents of drawing and designing who end up finding a place to dispose of their God eventually given abilities.

The environmental issue has always come hand in hand in as much as banners and posters are concerned. Its known that after campaigns when these banners and posters have no use they are left without proper disposal. These banners which are mostly polymers take a lot of time to decompose. The posters which are all over the walls of the streets create an ugly image.
