A turn table is a rotating plate that holds a phonograph record while it is being played. They are round although they differ in their prices due to different features in them. The stylus is composed of a diamond tip that is attached to cartilage, and it trucks physically on record groove. Replacement turntable stylus greatly improves the sound quality if it is a brand new one. A worn out and an old one will not only produce a poor quality sound but can also damage a record.

A new needle is required to improve the quality of sound of the system. Because they are of many types, the type purchased can affect the quality of sound produced. Those that are elliptical produce sound of higher quality compared to those that are spherical and conical though they are the most common.

The stylus with a tiny tip is the choice of many. This is because it fits into the groove appropriately. Buy one that has high contact with groove but minimal wear on the grove. This ensures that the sound is of high quality and also extends the life of the record.

The cost of a needle is the highest for those with highest sound quality. Good care together with appropriate protection is crucial in determining the duration of service offered by it. Protect it from coming into close contact with small debris and dust particles that damages it. There are special brushes that enhance the cleaning of the stylus. Materials and tools used during turntables replacement are. Tweezers, a replacement cartilage, screw-driver, steady hands, force gauge, replacement needle and a pair of needle-nose-pliers.

During the process of cartilage replacement, remove its carrier if it is removable. Then make sure you observe the model together with the make of both the turntable and the stylus. Ensure that the parts to replace with are of the same make and same model. Use the needle-nose-pliers to remove the old needle. Then replace it with a new one.

Use the screw-driver to remove the old cartilage from its carrier and insert the new one. During the process of installing it, remove the needle. On fitting, the cartilage then rewires the system. The needle is the inserted at this stage. Then its carrier is reinstalled. The markings on the gauge of the turntable are then used to align the needle. Tighten the nuts securing the cartilage to its carrier.

The next step involves setting the appropriate tracking force. For those with a built-in tracking force scale, the dial is adjusted until the wanted tracking force is reached. Then the anti-skating force is set as tracking force. The next step involves setting the arm height so that it is parallel to the surface of the platter when playing. Then you can listen to the smooth sound.

When buying a turn table you should consider the following. The amount you have. Then make a wise selection between a belt drive and a direct drive turntable. Decide whether to have an automatic or a manual turntable. Then carefully study the cartilage within the turntable.
