Exploring The Australia Institute Of Commerce And Technology Virutal Campus

Whether just staring a college career, or a lifetime student, there are now a number of colleges and universities offering online classes. Often known as distance learning, or extended education, there are generally no certificate or degrees, unless one is also enrolled as a full or part-time college student. A good example of this type program are distance learning classes offered through the Australian Institute of Commerce and Technology virtual campus.

Most all colleges and universities, which offer opportunities for distance learning offer credit and no credit, pass or fail classes. There are also organizations which offer free courses with an opportunity for a number of different certificates. EdX is a website which offers a number of classes from different universities around the world.

While individuals often have to be accepted to colleges, technical schools and universities, those obtaining certificates through edX and other similar websites only have to register online. The free aspect of these courses, other than a minimal donation for a verified versus an honor code certificate cost nothing compared to a four year degree which can now run over a hundred thousand dollars, depending on which school one plans on attending.

For most edX courses, a student must successfully complete 75% of the courseware to receive a honor code certificate. Students can also simply audit the class and view video lectures. As with traditional schooling, there are often tests which work toward a percentage of the overall grade.

One can obtain an honor code, verified or series certificate through a number of universities off the edX website. While some classes are offered for credit, others are not. There are still a number of benefits for completing one or more of these free classes. For example, simply having one listed on a resume can increase the chances of acquiring a job.

Generally, both traditional and online universities offer the option to Audit courses. In a university setting, the individual generally has to obtain permission from the instructor. Whereas, in online classes, it is often less work than if one were registered to obtain a certificate, or credit for the course.

Other ways to take classes over the internet, the new and popular free classes through edx dot org. The organization is now offering free classes and certificates from a number of colleges, technical schools and universities around the world. To register, simply visit the edX website and click on courses at the top of the page to peruse the offerings from each school.

Traditional universities most often offer an Associates, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. As to whether online courses will qualify for a specific degree plan, the student needs to set up a time to talk with the department head of the subject.

It is also important when looking to obtain a degree to assure there is enough work in the desired area to make doing so worthwhile whether doing so on-campus, or through long distance learning programs like those offered at the institute in Australia, or Harvard Extension School in the United States.
